Memorable locations from Emerald and ORAS

RSE was obviously a MASSIVE step upwards in terms of hardware and general visual quality, namely the much higher amount of sprites and colours for those sprites they could store, this let them really show off and make creative locations the series would have never been able to do before, like the moving floor in Pacifilog and Foretree or the wider variation in available colour pallets as shown in Sootopolis or the textures that could go OVER the players model like Lavaridge and route 117 along with the other weather routes. Needless to say this let them do far more, and thogh capabilities improved in future they didnt always take advantage of them like RSE to come up with new creative ideas, of course they still did for some games but RSE is a particularly strong example, only being boosted by ORAS on 3DS upping the visual effects further, something the original already succeled in, and showing off its own hardware by upgrading places (elite four, Mauville and more...)

While i do think think all of hoenn looks nice and i like the overgrowth of the early areas, i think the first noticable area to talk about is Petalburg

Petalburg is really the first town in the game to have a lot of energy to it, i feel thats mostly due to the music though, the blaring trumpets coming out the GBA speakers really set the mood of the town, especially since its a unique theme so anytime you want to hear it you have to come to Petalburg, creating an association like route 117. Even if it appears later in the game i do want to talk about the incredibly cool still water, the slow way it not only mirrors but warps your charector is such a cool visual spectacle, even me playing this game in 2022 (i think?) was impressed by it. Then of course you have your first ever gym that builds up a bit of an excitement to coming back to Petalburg

Next is the directly next route, i think its really special for showing off the rest of the ocean for the rest of the game, the sand textures are great to just run around on, the waves look great and are mesmorising, the music also just sets the tone of the rest of the game of it being like an adventure through the wild. Even describing all this im not quite sure why i picked to talk about this route, i think i just have a soft spot for it
